2007-06-14 [Peregrinus]: Well they didn't mention it in the film (apparently it got cut) but Will actually isn't bound to the Dutchm,an forever, only for ten years, because if your true love is faithful after ten years and waits for your return, the curse is broken and a new captain is chosen. That's why Jones was so pissed off that Tia Dahlma wasn't there when he got back. I have no idea why they cut such an important detail from the film, but there it is.

2007-06-14 [Ariandra]: Where did you get that info? We saw the part after the credits, but the dialog during the movie indicated that he would be the captain forever and only get to come ashore once every 10 yrs, and the part after was just their 10 yr visit. Davey Jones was cursed because he didn't do his duty to the dead souls. If we missed something, I'll have to go find it!LOL

2007-06-15 [Lothuriel]: Davey Jones was suppose to be cursed for 100 years as the ferryman, carrying souls lost at sea to their final resting place. Instead, he used the Flying Dutchman to fullfill his own selfish rein of terror. As for the thing that [Peregrinus] mentioned, it isn't part of the POTC series, it is one of many legends surrounding the Flying Dutchman. If you stuck around after the credits, you know already what happened 10 years later...Honestly, though. I didn't think that movie mad a dang bit of sense. It contradicted everything we were told in the first two and the characters were...well...completely out of character. i hate to say this but, I just didn't like it. I took my kids to see it. They are 3,4, 8, and 9. I was disgusted by the amount of violence in a movie that had been marketed for kids. The first two were awesome but, this one I just was very disappointed in.
